Mac said it takes regulation to end abuse of workers, including child labor. He did not say that children work in the oil mines--but he did say that oil development is exploitive, new-colonialism, if it is not accompanied by secondary industries that spread the wealth and create a middle class. He also said, and provided ample references, that children are exposed to toxics in mineral extraction, including oil. Some people don't read for comprehension or understanding.

It took laws to end child labor in this country. Do you think conservatives supported those laws? This material is taught in 6th grade,

Gives an indication of a man's ability to express himself when he has to clumsily try to explain what he really meant. Tripping over those biases again. As for "New colonialism"....he hasn't got the faintest idea what he is talking about.

Useful tip of the day......."Wikipedia has its limitations for those with no real world experience"

"Moving away" is exactly right. Moving the pollutants away from your back yard to the places where the minerals are mined and the electricity is produced. But hey, that "ZERO-CO2" license plate does look cool to the hopelessly naive. BTW, congratulations to all in your neck of the woods on the immediate dismissal by Google of the bigoted engineer that was foolish enough to express his views to a small group of colleagues. The VP of Diversity, Integrity and Governance (hilarious!) had it right............diversity doesn't extend to opinions that liberals don't like.

It had nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with offensive commentary aimed at women. You see, when a giant company like Google gets put in a pickle by an assinine commentary, they take care of the perp.. Kind of like Anthony Scaramucci. Mr. G, you are quickly becoming the Eric Bolling of the internet....nice work.
Here's a quote from the CEO of the $647 Billion company, “violate our code of conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes”.

Boggsy, You are beyond redemption. Offensive commentary? Did you even read his memo? Whether you agree with it or not, it was polite, measured, thoughtful and had many supporting citations. It only offensive to those who are incapable of hearing a view that doesn't coincide with theirs. Don't discuss it, or "educate" him, just kick him out for having an opinion he expressed to a small group of colleagues, and others chose to spread widely. And you are right there with them with your stupid "Eric Bolling" comment, again designed to shut down any opposing view. Pathetic.

Silicon Valley is beyond competitive, the most intense working environment in the country. Hiring talent is a war among the various tech firms, and Google sets the bar. They took matter into their own hands , regardless of whether they agreed with his views. I know its convenient for you to argue the political angle, but that misses the point. If I sent the same commentary out to fellow employees, I would have gotten the axe as well.

They are shutting down any dissent. Employees will sit in meetings nodding in agreement with their bosses for fear of retribution if they take an opposing view. And this at a company which boasts that it actively encourages employees to express their views through a myriad of discussion opportunities. They want "the whole person" at work they piously proclaim. Complete hypocrisy. The CEO is a weakling who made a bad decision. BTW, you keep mentioning politics........I have not. This is about political correctness run amuck which has a chilling effect on most employee's willingness to express their views. As for Silicon Valley being the most intense working environment in the country.........please!!. Once again you are revealing how narrow your world view is.

If you think there's a more competitive , higher paying, intense work envirornment than Silicon Valley, then lets hear it. There's a reason why GOOG+AAPL+FB= $2 TRillion dollars.....go ahead, lets hear it Mr. Teacher....
BTW- it was YOU that brought up what "liberals" dont like, see your above post...that's a political view, and it exposed your view on this subject as nothing more than convenient. Google is pretty good at making decisions, they seem to be doing pretty well.

Does anyone think that most of the hires in carbon based energy companies are not conservative, by intentional selection?

I guess he missed this statement:

“Women, on average, have more neuroticism (higher anxiety, lower stress tolerance).”

As this author notes, "radical candor gets measured at the other person’s ear, not at your mouth."
