Good ice with moderate winds in the morning becoming light in the afternoon. Lots of thin snow drifts and lumpy areas that are easy to avoid. Wet spots and weak ice by the yacht club were reported yesterday but all froze up today (Saturday). Lots of freeskaters and boards in the afternoon, one boat.

The wind has swept the upper end of the lake leaving wide open spaces. Downwind, the drifts have consolidated. They are much thicker, heavier and denser than the light fluffy drifts on the lake last weekend. Freeskaters blast through them at peril of being knocked down.

Winds were light when I arrived today about 3pm, getting busy again about an hour later.

went to massabesic. coudnt sail, ice was heavily puckered. Maybe we can get a melt down then a refreeze. Iceboats went out but were slow and needed a kidney belt.

I have a couple of FreeSkates that haven't been used for ~15 years.

Does anyone have any suggestions for blade sharpening?

Thank you.

Are you looking for a shop to do this for you?

As you might expect, the winds are strong and gusty at Quannapowitt. Boards and skate sailors are staying on the North end of the lake, to avoid having to navigate around the thick snow drifts that occur more frequently as you venture south.

If there is a shop that can reasonably do a good job, then yes.

Thank you.
