yes there is a moderate current in the canal, but nowhere near the strongest in N. Ameica, as itchynutz asserts. In fact, just around the corner in Woods Hole, for example, the current runs much faster and stronger. Don't know where you get your facts, itchy, or scratchy or whatever you want to call yourself today.

Maybe this explains all the aliases:

Mr. Swift, yet another of your truly fascinating personal travelogues. Your writing shows style, substance, organization, purpose, method, and a certain panache. Congrats for seeing those dolphins! They were no doubt trying to evade you, but you outsmarted them because of your superior intelligence and advanced skills.

They were also fascinated by the sheer size and audacity of his blowhole.

I will ask you only once, sir. Do not disparage The Mighty Bruce. His intelligence is awesome, his education is magnificent, his posture is manly, his experience is worldly, his skills are unparalleled, and his blowhole is audacious.

Others, perhaps including you, have called him hugely half-assed.

But I defend the noble Mr. Swift.

His ass is complete, albeit huge. There's enough for everybody.

And I agree with wavedawg. The current through Woods Hole is stronger than in the canal, particularly between Nonamessett Island and the tip of Penzance Point.
