I'm so giddy about this that I can't help myself - tomorrow I'm taking off for Bangkok to hang out at the Starboard HQ for a day or two, then heading down to West Oz to do an R+D trip with Scotty McKercher and some of the Starboard team.

This incredible job has taken me some incredible places, and I am constantly reminded how lucky I am to be working in windsurfing - but I can't remember the last time I was THIS excited. Seriously. I can't even sit still. I'm going home to pack.

Since we're headed to who-knows-where, I'm leaving the computer at home - so ya'll have to wait till I get back for a quick forum report and pictures - and of course, more in the mag later. I'll try and update the mag's facebook from my phone Smile

Josh, good on ya laddie, sounds like a brilliant walkabout, say High to the girls on Patpong road for me, I remember Bangkok (vaguely) from an R&R many, many moons ago, just be sure to wear your foul weather gear. Seriously it has probably changed pretty drastically since then, like the rest of Southeast Asia. Post some video for us from western Oz, great you can actually get paid for this type of work,(work?)

Great sailing. I especially appreciated the music. It was the normal thrash/screaming/harsh-drumming/pounding-electric-guitar score you get with most windsurfing videos. That music gives me a headache.

Another reason to go to Australia.

Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations episodes may be your best guide to the culinary aspects of your trip. Hope you get lots of good times all the way thru your trip.

I was skimming this, and, in tune with its tone, misread that last "p" as a "j". Man, this dude is REALLY excited about this trip. Good on ya!

jsampiero, do you like sitting in traffic all day to make it across town? Obviously, you like sitting in airplanes for days on end. Bankok remains one huge traffic snarl, sort of like Athens. A friend of mine spent three months there. When we gave him his send-off he was in the best of shape. When he returned he was all screwed up, a chain smoker and way overweight.

I lived in Bangkok for about a year (somewhat near the Starbroad HQ) and else where in the country (near Laos) for two years. If you come back weighing more than you left your lucky. Starboard is on the outskirts of Bangkok. Eat lots of tiger shrimp and pad thai. I am jealous.

The HQ facility has a nice lake with a wake board cable that is a blast.

If you need a Thai translator and tour guide give me a call.

Man you are such a downer sailing blow.

I spent a month in Thailand and Bangkok and it was awesome. Great food, great fun and an exciting place to visit. We even hiked in the jungles for days and came back in great shape. Great you get to go out and see this great world and get paid for it to boot. Im jealous!!! You should be very excited.

On second thought It would probably be much more fun to sit in your dark basement with your mother, sit on the computer and throw out negative remarks or sand your fin all day.

I know that guy. He lives near you (very near) and his name is Speedysailor! What a coincidence.

I've been pretty lucky lately with the windsurfing travel, so I shouldn't be jealous. But yes. I am.

Like Tom Hanks playing Tom Hanks said in Private Ryan, "Earn this, Josh. Earn it."
