The UK raised income taxes on citizens earning more than a million pounds per year from 40% to 50% ... a 25% or 10 percentage point increase ... to raise revenues by 2.5 Billion pounds. Result: revenues from those big earners dropped 6.9B pounds, from 13.4B pounds to 6.5B pounds, cutting their share of total tax revenues from 9% to 4.4%.
Surely, part of the decline was due to the lousy economy, but much is attributed to behavioral changes including leaving the country and legitimate tax management. Do people think The Evil Rich are all so stupid they won't change their behavior when taxes go too high, as our CBO is required by law to presume?

NW--you're still in need of a credible source. For just about anything you've posted. But I can tell you hate the man who is ten times more competent than his predecessor. You just can't give a reason that would stand up to scrutiny. Such un-Christian sentiments. |

Yep, he's fully in touch with the common man.
So in touch, that he had to have 54 Christmas trees in the White House this time around, all full size of course, and that's more than twice as many as last year.
Sorry tiny Tim. |
NW, you are really a piece of work.

?!?!? How in hell did you come up with that?
You may have well called me a racist, which seems to be popular these days at anyone who criticizes the chosen one, I guess I should feel lucky?
Like I said, he should give those Christmas trees (all but one) to people who could use them (Sandy victims).
Yep, that's un-Christian of me all right. |

53 of his Christmas trees could easily go to some of the victims of Sandy. | That's a lot of trees for a Muslim. _________________ /w\ |

My mother has a lot of Xmas trees too.
You mad at her too? The world has gigantic problems and your focus is counting Xmas trees? How many trees do you approve for my mother? How many for Obama? How many for my house?
Just checking.
I remember an Email I got "proving" O was a Muslim because he didnt have enough Xmas decorations at the white house years ago.
At that time I was a registered Republican so I got a lot of mail from hateful people about Obama. Were those Xmas Emails from you NW?

NW--you speak hatred of Obama, constantly. I think you missed this point:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
and of course, the immortal "the greatest of these is love."
I get pretty tired of evangelicals who spew hatred. |

I speak CRITICISM of Obama, not "hate", and NOTHING ELSE!!!!!!
And that is your problem, not mine, knowing the difference between the two.
And what would that kind of frame of mind make you?
You gotta bring it down a notch. |

You're falling into their trap, NW. We offer facts and topical opinions, they spew irrelevant and baseless ad hominem in the hope you'll forget whatever you were talking about. You're not going to change that. They think Billy Graham is a racist, bigoted, angry, homophobic, chauvinistic hater ... or would at least call him one if he said anything they objected to. |

"But if you were as true to the sport as your political views, everybody would have the same lower value of windsurfing equipment, no top 2%, no poor struggling windsurfers trying to get some workable equipment, just everyone lowered to equal mediocrity."
You know NW30, your above comment caught my eye. Where did you dream up such nonsense? Even though I might be viewed as a liberal with progressive views, I'm arguably more like the 2% in selecting some of my windsurfing gear. It's not that it's so crazy expensive and untouchable, it's just that I'm a bit more eclectic in what I like, and often I want the best. I guess some on the right think that folks like me are supposed to be communists, or maybe socialists, that think everyone must be eating gruel and getting by on poorly made goods suited for the "common" people.
Contrary to what you might hear and read from your leading edge right wing sources, not all of us on the left are totally devoid of taste and discretion, and we actually like capitalism. You might find it hard to believe, but some of us are educated and even pay for what we want. |
