So NW30, your solution to our debt problem is voting for Mitt Romney, the guy who is promising to cut income taxes by 20%? Although he claims the tax reduction would be revenue neutral, he conveniently omits how he would change current deductions to achieve that end. And, even if he was able to achieve a outcome that was revenue neutral, that's would do nothing to reduce our deficit, much less our debt.

Maybe the fact that Romney's tax plan doesn't add up hasn't dawned on you yet.

It's SO simple: If ya can't afford it*, don't buy it* ... whatever "it*" is. If ya reallyreallyreally want it*, then work harder, get smarter, and maybe some day you CAN afford it*. You sure as hell have no right to have the government take money by force from taxpayers to buy it* for you.

(Hey, idiots: I realize millions do not have the God-given mental or physical capacity to earn more money; I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about the tens of millions who could earn more but choose not to and still demand unearned handouts.)

* "It" = houses, cars, private schools, children, new clothes, restaurant meals, LCD TV sets, video games, movies, cell phones, a whole bed or bedroom for each family member, pets, health care beyond Medicaid, cigarettes, soda pop ... the list is endless. If you could earn it but refuse and demand others support you, it's sure as hell not the next guy's obligation. (Save your breath, whiners; I, not the taxpayer, pay my own VA disability payments out of my own pocket, as you know.)

Four years at FSU costs $24,000 now -- less than it cost me in 1963 dollars -- for tuition and books (and ya gotta live and eat even if not in school.) Anyone incapable of earning $6k a year probably isn't college material.

Capable but unwilling yet demand a free ride? GFY.

Life is short Mike. And it really doesn't matter anyway.

a debt hawk is the same my friend. a dove would be one who would tolerate high debts. Before you copy and paste off Drudge, you should get a handle on the subject matter.

"I, not the taxpayer, pay my own VA disability payments out of my own pocket, as you know."

No, you haven't explained that satisfactorily at all. For all of us here, I think that you owe us a credible explanation. The idea that the government sends you disability payments that come out of your own pocket makes absolutely no sense at all. If those disability payments are coming out of your pocket like you say they are, why would you be receiving anything at all from the government? If I was receiving disability payments from Social Security, the amount that I would receive monthly from the government would be in excess of the current Social Security check that I now receive.

And while you're at it, please share with us what your service related disability is, and how it all happened. We're all on the edge of our chairs to learn more.

I think Iso suffers from clinical insomnia. He put all paperwork together and got it certified as a real disability.
Some members of my family suffer the same real ailment it is not a joke at all.
VA or not my family is VERY conservative so none of us apply for things like unemployment and other benefits.
I once at nineteen tried to sign up for a free welding class in Denver when I was broke and out of work but you had to be on unemployment to qualify. I was at that office anyway and about halfway through three hours of waiting and processing when they said I had to be on welfare too.
They gave me a bunch of welfare applications forms to fill out. If I told my mother I signed up for welfare she would make me sleep on the sidewalk in front of the house at night.
I made a scene at the office and left.
My issue with social welfare is not whether it a good idea.I have been in places where there is no social welfare, like Afghanistan and Somalia.
My problem is with the Gov.who administers it.
My moms church is a welfare agency .
My wife and I function like that in Belize. There are no forms to fill out.
We also teach free welding classes ,by the way.
