Robertson is the holy man of God who supports the guy in Liberia who used child soldiers to set up roadblocks and cut off the limbs of anyone who passed and hang them on a fence. He came on TV to call for the murder of Chavez and when it was pointed out to him that was a federal crime to incite murder, he said they got him wrong and he meant kidnapping. When he realized that was a crime, too, he said he was misquoted despite the fact that we all saw him say it in two televised speeches.

There are plenty of NONSCIENTIFIC websites that recite supposed "facts" about how GW is not real and a scam, when it comes right down to it the truth is becaming more obvious by the day

Number of national & international groups of scientists that say GW is real and we should do something about it 46+ .
number on the other side ? ZERO

number of PEER REVIEWED articles in scientific journals over the last 15+ years that say GW is real 950+
number on the other side ? ZERO

unfortunately there are plenty of right wing nutters, birthers and GW deny-ers who are more than willing to be a part of this modern day Flat Earth society...pity the fools, they are even contributing to GW with all their hot air

We need to refer to it as "Climate Change", instead of global warming. These freak snow storms in Houston and record cold are confusing the lessor 12% of the nation!

But where's the snow in the mountains? CO. is hurting this season! Rolling Eyes

Bump and discuss.

Talking of hypocricy.......extract from London Times article April 1:

"It is a giant travelling circus that has spent 20 years touring some of the world’s most exotic locations — Bali, Marrakesh, Barcelona, Rio, Buenos Aires — all at taxpayers’ expense. But the good times may soon be over for the 20,000 people who attend the annual climate change summit because the Government wants to reduce its carbon footprint by choosing a permanent location.
The climate circus will set up its next camp in November in the Mexican resort of Cancún. Next year’s summit is due to be held in South Africa but, under the Government’s plan, from 2012 there would be a permanent home.

Kat Watts, climate adviser for the environmental lobby group WWF and a veteran of several summits, welcomed the idea of a permanent home but said that there were some advantages to varying the location.

“The atmosphere of the location can make a difference to the mood of delegates. There is a difference between being able to go out to a café by the sea in Bali and have a discussion as opposed to winter in Poland.”

The Copenhagen summit, attended by 20,000 delegates, lobbyists, activists and journalists, had a footprint of around 46,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide: 6,000 tonnes emitted in the city and a further 40,000 tonnes by the attendees' flights"

Bali.........Poland? I guess location does make a difference to the facts and the urgency of the situation. What a bunch of freeloaders. And you wonder why some people are skeptical!

mrgybe--can you make the same snarky comments when you correct your own typos? The hypocracy is when the far right--whatever their connections to the carbon industry might be--focus on meetings and how Al Gore got there rather than on science. I think a hypcrite is someone who will not respond to the facts, but always goes back to talking points.

You're a hoot.......you chasten me for a typo in the word "hypocrisy" and then misspell the same word yourself.......twice!! Was your note peer reviewed?

The article speaks for itself........if it doesn't trouble you, that's fine.

While we debate climate change, lets take a pause today. 25 hard working Americans are dead today, as a result of the negligence and danger of working for Massey Energy. When , when , when is this great country going to graduate to the next generation of electricity production? It seems archaic to me that the men and women of West Virginia still pack a lunch and head into a mine, where they will either destroy their lungs or die in a blast , or never see sunlight again.

You're right........the carbon extraction industry is almost always difficult and dangerous. Most companies have stellar safety procedures, others don't and need to be punished for their failures. Any death or serious on the job injury is unacceptable. The overwhelming numbers working in those industries are ordinary, decent, hard working people........perhaps we can take a day off from criticizing them.

When will we see the next generation of energy production?.........when there is a viable large scale alternative. Nuclear is the only realistic alternative with the needed scale at present.

Here's a quote from CEO of Massey, Blankenship in 2006:

Those concerns were heightened in 2006 when an internal memo written by Mr. Blankenship became public. In the memo, Mr. Blankenship instructed the company’s underground mine superintendents to place coal production first.

“This memo is necessary only because we seem not to understand that the coal pays the bills,” he wrote.

Too often, money trumps everything in business.
