I use to crash so hard that everything got stripped clean.
After a crash, if I saw the ankle part of my wetsuit peeled all
the way up by my knee, I'd know the sail was cleaned off well!
But eventually I got better at sailing and had to clean them myself.
Us construction guys use an orbital on the small stuff and
pull out the belt sander with 36 grit to combat the big spots.
If you sand too much then clear packing tape comes into play

I meticulously clean (with 409 or acetone or Goo-Gone or whatever it takes) and air-dry my sails from top to bottom every time ...
every time I sell them. Until then I let the Columbia do my dirty laundry; its wash and rinse cycle works very well on everything but pine tree sap, which elbow grease and Goo Gone remove prior to sale .. er ... sail ...no, wait ... SALE. Buyers and/or consignment shops ooh and ahh over how good they look in comparison to the filthy, sandy, salty, scratched-up crap most people try to sell. The "secret"? Household and shop cleaning supplies and the living room floor. (Just don't get solvents/soaps under the seams/into the adhesives.)

BTW - Ezzy is right. Sails really don't need cleaning. |
Now that's the freekin cooliest laydown jibe I ever laid my eyes on!! _________________ The Time a Person Spends Windsurfing is not Deducted from their Lifespan...
