If there is no wind-the mountain is always there.See you on the water or see you on the top(I'll be on the water after you and on the top of the mountain before you).

Waves are alway bigger when you are right in front of them than when you are looking at them from the parking lot.

In response to Coach; I was at the sign when it died and it was a strong ebb. I ended up coming in at the upper, upwind launch. So, is that the walk of heroes?

1.when you're in the channel at 3rd avenue, and you notice all the kites near the shore falling into the water for lack of wind, might be time to think about heading in.

2. It's better to be fully powered on a 100 liter board, than sitting on the shore cuz you cant get out on your 80 liter board.

That's true for a lot of things in life, especially so for the forward though!
It's cool when windsurfing analogies lend themselves to life in general eh?!

How about the shove-it? I wanna learn that one wicked bad!! Just say F it and do it??

The shove-it is a little more involved/technical, although at some point you're going to just have to get the nerve up to try it.

What I said before applies mostly to the forward loop. Andy Brandt describes it as "hard to try, easy to do", as opposed to say a vulcan which is "easy to try, hard to do". I would put the shove-it somewhere in between. It's definitely easier to try than a forward, but it's also harder to do and takes more technique.

Shove-it's are the best. I'd say it's my favorite thing to do, the best way to jump, and I'd be totally stoked to sail the whole day and do nothing but shove-its. It's the only way I jump now on port for the most part.. can barely do a nice regular port jump now. I jump best on starboard now, cuz I can't do many tricks goofy footed. Maybe I need to say F it, and learn some shit on starboard.

to refine what Surfskimd" said above:

You may plan on a high wind fest, but bring a floaty board and big-ass sail just in case. Cause even if it ain't white knuckles and 4.0s light wind cruising sure beats the crap out of sitting in traffic (applies best to those trans bay trips during rush hour. (e.g. Oakland to 3rd Ave on a Friday)

Don't ever go windsurfing without taking all your stuff.

Better to keep all your stuff in your vehicle at all times, because that way you're always prepared.

Yes and the rules there clearly say there should be "no swimming or wading"
