Chinook single bolt mast base ?

Kevin since you seem to know about the Streamlined, any solutions to offer for the above described problem with sand from the surf jamming the release button of the 2 bolt deck plate? It is impossible for me to release with just my finger(s) on the beach when this happens. Which happens just about every long session or every other short session in the ocean. Thanks

an old CD or those free software discs they used to mail out work well for a baseplate. i;ve never had a problem with chinook single, but usually use a two hand, actually two thumb,technique to get it tight.

I would also point out that the bolt of rubber mast base from Chinook (not the tendon) is not in the center which makes using the plastic disk (washer) impossible. The rubber bases are great when you are learning to waterstart but might be the one from the original post that is coming loose. Once you aren't learning to waterstart or falling a lot switch to a tendon base.

So I have a new sail that requires a 4cm extension but all US base extensions have a min setting larger than this. So I realize for the first time that one advantage of the Euro pin is a smaller min setting. Is there any thing else I don't know about one vs the other. I am considering switching to Euro Pin Streamline gear.

I find the tendon bases tend to ride stiffer.
As for power transfer, I feel there is little difference. I competed in years of speed trials sailing, have tried the mechanical bases, and feel rider ease is what makes a sailor go fastest.
One year, at Kailua, sailing with the slalom crew there, I'd lead the pack and for some reason, nobody could pass me. I was on a Haut 8'10"er. My uni had stretched to well past the rail of the board, on either tack. It made no difference in board speed. And no, it didn't break.
