I hear no rentals either. Some wind at "A bay" on Kona side.
Better get your fix on Maui, then go see the sights on the big isle.

Mr. Bull, we stayed on Marriot points at the place linked below last summer in late June after 8 days of blasting wind on Maui. There was afternoon onshore wind each day of about 15-20. I saw kiters launching from the point and working downwind to the beach where the Marriot is located. I do not know anything about the rental gear situation, which to me is crucial on short trips whenever air travel is involved.

I spent time sailing at the Waikoloa resort and it was good there. But...Southpoint was by far the most unreal port tack massive summer wavesailing south facing beach in Hawaii. Way off the regular tourist stops.
You probably want to bring your own board unless you can get someone over there to loan you some gear. I sailed it 24 years ago this summer. There used to be a shop then.

My son took me to South Point and I didn't windsurf. There were very high and steep cliffs. I don't know how you would get gear down to the water. Having said that, the swell was big and the wind was about 20 mph. Because it is on the end of the island the current is strong once you get away from shore. You probably end up in Japan if you break down.

A year ago last Jan. the resort area on the west side of the Island had an outdoor rental shop we stumbled on that was closed. Didn't look like much, I would expect old long boards, and there was light offshore wind.
At south point I think there is a beach you could launch from on the East side of the cliffs if you had your own gear.
