Alrighty, so I went out last night RIGHT as the wind dropped, boo! Anyway, I normally launch at His Lordships which normally has the best wind, but I noticed while I was slogging way that Sophien and crew were blasting around way downwind closer to the freeway. Is there a little micro-climate down there when the wind starts to pull back that still has sailable wind. It was crazy, I was on a biggish board (97 ltrs), plenty of sail (5.6) and I could barely pump on a plane. I can be an pretty efficient sailor, so I'm thinking there must be some weird little micro windy spot do there.

Well, there are certain people you don't want to use as wind dummies at Berkeley... namely Sofi, Domond, or Mitsu. Those guys always plane, and they can be on smaller, bigger, or the same gear as you.

As you know, it's usually windier upwind near the restaurant, and sometimes the wind accelerates off the jetty there, but the water is also choppier and sometimes very confused, so at times it's easier to get going down low where the water is smoother... and sometimes it's just windier down there for some reason.

Laughing That's the pot calling the kettle black. Kevin please add your name to the list of non-relevant wind dummies at Berkeley for Tim, I and others.

Ross.

Yeah, that Kevin guy is six feet of hot air supported by bird bones. I heard he was once planing in a complete vacuum.
