Tall ship snares a hot dogging kiter at the Hatchery. When last seen, kiter was riding it in, water skiing behind square-rigger, "The Hawaiian Chieftan", past the White Salmon bridge, May 17th.

The tall ships were firing off cannons and generally showing off. They were under sail heading downwind, with lots of tourists on board. I didn't see the kiter get snagged, it happened near the point, but I did watch him skiing behind the ship, his kite was caught near the top of the ship's mast. The ships had just enough speed to keep him up.

I'll give it a go, posting them here....
It looks like he crashed when the kite got caught in the rigging, but he recovered and water skied behind the square rigger, into the east. I saw him still hanging on when we went past at the White Salmon Bridge. The ship is the "Hawaiian Chieftan".
We have a video of it that we're going to post to You Tube.
BTW, 2 other WS pics included in next transmission..

Close call? He got snagged by a tall ship. How could it have been worse?
I suppose he could have been lofting a mighty air and slammed into the side of the ship and got his head stuck in the porthole of a head (bathroom) that stunk like s**t while his legs were kicking in the air outside with his wetsuit down around his knees.
Phew, that was a close call.

I think it's even more amazing that the windsurfer in the foreground is wearing a shorty! Ha!

AMEN. Guess he wasn't falling in.
I suspect a set up stunt. I didn't think any kook kiters launched at the Hatchery????????????? The kiter is probably an old former windsurfer because I don't see any boardshorts?
