How do you fund your windsurfing?

Are you a kept man? Independent contractor? Sneak out until you get fired? What type of jobs do we windsurfers have that lets us get out on the water mid afternoon for 6 months out of the year?

I've asked a few of you and found the following "occupations":

retired, contract computer programmer, house husband, handyman, construction worker, doctor, airline mechanic.

In the past, I've just sneaked out from my internet startup jobs. I learned to carry soap and water so when I went back into the office, I didn't smell like seaweed. However, even short sessions take at least 2 hours, and this would occasionally cause problems with the paycheck distributors. Now I'm an independent contractor which is more flexible obviously but far more insecure.

So how do you do it?

My management and team are all on the east coast so I can start early and leave early on most days.

of all my sailing buddies that sail on a very regular basis, me included, I know some are airline pilots, nurses, medical doctors, guards, teachers, contractors, ITers, project managers, researchers, professors, consultants, etc, etc. So it seems as if any profession will get you on the water pretty darn good. It's not about what you do, it's about how you do it!
