LOL for sure. Somebody posted on either this or the General forum that it was a great deal and you should jump on it. I was afraid you were another newbie who might buy up that old crap. As haterrater mentioned before, they usually buy it no matter what anybody says. So we obviously don't know each others' history. I've spent plenty of time on the Bay, and what I refer to as flat water is "no swell." Chop is a whole other issue and, imho, board width and hull shape are more important than volume. But of course swell can happen in lighter wind as well, and that's where you will really have more fun on one of the newer shapes. Very Happy

yeah, I have heard ' killer deal, dude ' enough times to know better

My thinking is that the newer shapes ( 70 cm width, 250 cm length) might give me the initial stability( I am 225 lbs) to get out of the inside and lulls and then be a good planer on the outside. I can handle a little bounce.

At this point, I haven't seen any 2-3 yr old boards, with the newer shape
( that fit me), in the used market (CL , swap meets). It is 98% old stuff.

Time is a big consideration. I will have to open up the budget.

Do you have an opinion on the Mistral Explosion 130 ?

Thanks

I sailed 07 model once in Maui. It was a light day and the shop didn't have 115 which was the size I was looking for. Behaved well in waves, was pretty easy to control, went upwind well. I could even jump it with my 240lbs. Would not want it for the bay chop though.

With your weight you should seriously consider FSW 110-115ltr board.

Clueless on the Mistral. Lately, it is really hard to find newer used stuff. RVWA swap at Sherman Island this Saturday, but usually only 1 or 2 worthwhile boards. You could stop by Delta Windsurf or call Derek at 916-777-2299. He carries a lot of crossover-type boards, and has some used ones or 2007-2008 new ones at good prices. I bought a Vela JP a few years back which is still going strong. Also a new 2007 Naish last year at a great price. Good luck.
