Probably a decent beginner/intermediate board. As far as I can recall, they're more speed oriented than making jibing easy.

Depending on the price it could be a good first or second board. Check for damage and delaminations. (press with your thumb on the board to find soft spots.) It's not the end of the world if you find a few, but use that to negotiate the price. Make sure the area near the mast track is solid.

If you're under 180lbs you'll outgrow it pretty quickly, if you're over 200lbs you'll be able to keep it for a while and not feel like you're on an aircraft carrier.

I had the 295 11 in my racing days before freestyle. It is a pure racing board built for speed. That thing is fast! It's just not as early planing or as easy jibing as more modern designs. Another guy I know still has his, and it's still a blast with my 8.2 on it. It was way ahead of it's time when it first came out.

If you're planning on using a 6.5 to 9.0 on it, it'll be a good board.

I had a few great sessions on that board. Very manageable. however I think the real volume is closer to 135ltr.

The Xantos 295II is a good deal more forgiveing. Last fall there was one on consignment at Fox in Hatteras. Pretty sure it was my old board.

Hey Jerry!

we should be pulling in this Thursday. and staying until the 18th. You coming?

Need a place to stay or are you doing the usual?

We'll see if I can hold off the pros coming to this years event. Premature rumors are some of the boys might coming from the West Coast, and the now famous Caeser is coming up from Bonaire with a buddy or 2. We all know he'll kill everyone in light wind, but people may not know he kills it in high wind too. I'm gonna have my work cut out for me. Check out the East Coast Windsurfing Festival 2009. www.ECWindfest.com
