I got blown off the water at Topanga. Partially because I couldn't get a reading from Iwindsurf, I had one less bit of information to use in making my sail selection. I could see that it was windy, I just didn't realize how windy. In any case, after re-rigging down to a 4.8 I was still way overpowered. The swell was pretty well blown out though.

I have to say that the local kiters have really improved. Used to be when it got seriously windy they would disappear. Not anymore; there were many more kiters than windsurfers out today.

Over two feet of sweet, light powder this weekend at Mammoth!!! Only problem was the sixty+ mph wind that accompanied it. There is a time and a place for wind and this was neither. Oh well, my jaw hurts from the stupid grin that these conditions cause... YEEHAW!!! Bull

Nice first sail of spring!

At 200 lbs., eventually got blown off the water at Cabrillo on a 85L board and 5.2 wave sail. Outside the wind was blowing 30-40 from 12-2, and it kept building. Even the sensor, which is sheltered from westerlies, eventually indicated gusts in the high 30s, while the sensor at the Korean Bell had 50+ gusts, and sustained 30+ average.

Apparently most of the typical Cabrillo folks opted for Sunset given it was a westerly, and the graphs there (and at Belmont, etc.) showed some pretty high winds.

Did a rare downwinder from Doheny State Beach to San Onofre yesterday. Stopped at Trestles and Churches on the way for some wavesailing in side-side/off wind!!!!!!! Overpowered on 5.0. There were a couple windsurfers down at Old Mans in San Onofre, tons of kiters out though.
