Iceboard sailing pictures usually do not always tell the tale of what is going on.
True, most pics show the form of an upright sailor, and for most ice sailors this becomes a more instinctive form.
One of the main reasons for this is that many ice sailors don’t have the confidence in their blades to hold them laterally.
It takes years of practice and confidence to push as laterally hard like one does on the water.
It also takes having extremely sharp fine tuned blades.

So, I would have to disagree with this comment about the upright position observed with ice sailing at top speeds.

In fact, I certainly do sail my ice board rig with long harness lines, extended arms and extremely raked back to windward, especially when speed sailing in winds 25knts and greater and at speeds of 50mph or more.
The trouble is, no one has been able to document my events with photos because it’s darn scary to stand on ice in that much wind!

Here is a cool raked photo, but at this point, is inefficient to optimal wind forces.
So, not quite that far back!
Jeff

Great extra photo's. Thanks. I'm just hoping that folks don't do the slow thing on the water. Lots of folks choke out half their potential to go faster, because of the short harness lines, set too far forward, won't sheet home philosophy. That's all. Control does not mean slower in gusty winds. Faster (faster! faster!) is actually easier once the psych factor is overcome.... Cheers.

They say "a picture is worth a thousand words".
Jeff that picture is worth a million...

Here's a tip... SHRINK IT! (before posting Laughing )

It took me 5 mins to scroll to the end.
Nice shot. BTW

Glad to see you are breaking records. However, it makes me wish I was there. I met you once Jeff a couple of years ago when I was ice kiting with skates. I took a sabbatical this year in Florida. The endless warm and sunny days have become a rather irritating to me as I was born a winter sports fanatic. Now I can only hope that the ice on the Cape next year will be as good as it has been this.

But, Brucie, on forum after forum, you brag about sitting on your fourth-floor balcony, overlooking azure seas, enjoying the endless warm and sunny days, mild breezes, pleasant weather, beautiful sunsets, sucking down pale ales....

And, at the same time, you complain about snowboarders, weak knees, sore ankles, cranky hip joints...

Which is it, big guy? Warm Florida or cold New England?

Oh, I get it. You need to validate yourself.

One thing is for sure. Your neighbors everywhere wish you were pontificating elsewhere.
