sorry about pic size - was in a hurry and posted it from the blog as is

the skis are obviously straight and NOT parabolics
mine were all freebies and were 185s - apparently longer is even better
the lateral resistant is excellent
no footstraps, i put my feet on the skis against the board and RIP

that sled is used on ice with NOT much snow
the less the better
i have another sled with 3 skis that i use in snow
the 3rd ski is for the lateral resistance

the Scandinavians and New Englanders have been doing this even longer
they use the blades on the boards
since ice is nice but snow is prevalent here - i built one for each -

good luck - it's loads of fun and no waterstart skills required

Interesting. From the WinterWindsurf article I assumed anything less than 2.2m wouldn't really work. I have 2.1m straight steel-edged skis so hopefully they'll work well until there is enough snow for my 3m jumping skis.

I'm wary of building an iceboard (4 skates) as they go scarily fast. I have a lot of protective gear but it is still going to be nicer to fall on snow. I have a helmet, impact jacket, elbow guards, impact shorts, knee pads and wrist protectors. I would be super bummed if I lost a summer of windsurfing to a winter injury!!
