I am looking at renting a place in March in Kuau. I am wondering if you hear much plane noise there and also if you can launch/sail from the cove? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

No plane noise whatsoever. Nice spot too. You can launch there. A bit tricky, probably bring a snorkle and mask, check out the small channel which is about 20 feet deep and not much wider, or watch someone else go out first.

Tim Tevenard had a nice 3 unit place there, quiet nice. Across the street from Mama's Fish House, Check with Maui Windsurf Company.

Kuau is absolutely the best place to stay (for wavesailing) on Maui. The condos at Kuau are c+ accomodations within an easy stroll to Mamas beach. Mamas Inn (the real deal) offers B+ to A+ accomodations for twice the condo prices, and twice the ambiance. If you've got the money try Mamas. Otherwise there are plenty of places on the Kuau Pennisula. Try vrbo.

Good luck!
