The season is NEVER OVER! In the SF Bay area we go from Nirvana (I can sail every day depending on time, money, work, family obligations) from March to mid-October, to the real world. From November to February, we are chasing storm fronts like most of the rest of the US. I almost feel the forecasts are more valuable in the Winter, when its hard to know exactly when and where to go. The windows of oportunity don't open as wide or as long and you have to be on top of it to get it.

That being said: Iwindsurf team, could you please employ Mike G or someone who is willing to send out alerts during the so called, "off season."

As for iwindsurf being worth the money, try going without and add up your skunk costs. Every time you go to the wrong place and don't sail, add up your gas and time lost at work, subtract your monthly subscription, and tell the rest of us how much money you are saving. Jim Martin's little invention has gotten me more water time than the camber inducer, clamp on booms, carbon fiber, or any other "revolutionary idea" to ever come about in this sport.

No, I don't work for, and am not sponsored by, iwindsurf.

We do get NW & N days throughout the winter months in SF.

I've sailed the coast multiple times in November, December and January on NW days.

There just are not many sailors around. The one person you do run into is the intrepid Mr. Thorner! I met him on a NW day at Tomales in December 10 yrs ago and if I remember correctly we were the only two actually on the water. There was another good day at Crissy in 99', again Peter and I were the only sailors and it is never easy to forget as the water temp was warmer than the air. I believe air was 46F and water 47F. We managed two reaches and then had to crouch behind the wall at the yacht club to defrost frozen hands.

Had a killer weekend at Waddell a few years back as well, pre-marriage!

Sure, people sail during the winter..A couple of years back, I sailed
Waddell on Jan 2 on NW clearing winds.. To me that doesn't make it a
part of the season (March -> Sept). It seems like most posters here
like to think there is no season with the definition of a season being
any month you can sail in.. Anyhow, believe what you want and I'll
leave with the definition of season:

1. one of the four periods of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter), beginning astronomically at an equinox or solstice, but geographically at different dates in different climates.
2. a period of the year characterized by particular conditions of weather, temperature, etc.: the rainy season.
3. a period of the year when something is best or available: For wind that's spring and summer. The windy season
4. a period of the year marked by certain conditions, activities, etc.: baseball season.
5. a period of the year immediately before and after a special holiday or occasion: the Christmas season.
6. Sports. a. a period with reference to the total number of games to be played by a team: a 162-game season.
b. a period with reference to the won-lost record of a team after it has completed its schedule: a .700 season.
7. any period or time: in the season of my youth.
8. a suitable, proper, fitting, or right time: This is not the season for frivolity.
