|
|
Not to get kite vs. windsurf tensions all out of whack....
Was out at Topanga on an 11'6" Pacifico, and after huffing that thing down the stairs.... noted a very "able-bodied" kiter pull up to the handicapped parking spot, throw this placard in the window, grab his kite and head up to the launch. Had to snap a pic out of disbelief.
I would have had similar reactions kite vs. sailboard. But damn, this just asks to have a punchline.
I really don't have a gripe with this guy, but doesn't help their (kiter's as a whole) place in trying to earn respectability at their launches.

I just can't wait to see what epenrose has to say about this one.
Just to keep things a little fair, I am on vacation in Hood River and saw a windsurfing couple do the same the other day.

Grandma or grandpa can be an asset when you know they're stuck at home. Some folks will leverage off any opportunity for an advantage.
Isn't really about "me" anyway? Who gives a crap about the average losers out there.

I saw a surfer with mountain bikes on his car do the same thing today.
Weird!

No doubt a member of the "entitlement" generation.

Pretty surprising.
There is a couple at Davenport who I have seen multiple times park with the blue placard and rig up and go out into the waves. So you can sail logo high waves but need a handicapped sticker, explain that.
I wonder how people live with themselves. I had a huge argument with a guy years ago near Phoenix lake on Mount Tam. I told him if he left his car (no placard) I'd pull it out myself. He eventually moved and then a ranger showed up and I saved the guy $400. I told the ranger and he said just call us we'll be here in a shot.
Sad part is that I bet half the handicapped placard holders are almost certainly vets who have given so much and to see the system abused and truly challenged people not get to enjoy our beaches really disgusting.
Just call them in if you think they are abusing the placard, unless they are illegal juvenile drug dealers in SF, then theirs no point as there is no law, but that's another story......
