Thanks for Astro Rock info. I think now I'm more up to date on the type of board I should consider next.
A JP board does sound like it could be a good choice. At an ABK clinic in Hyannis, MA last fall Andy Brandt, the owner, happen to mention in idle conversation that JP puts out some great products.
At the time he said he wasn't saying it for marketing reasons.
Thanks Vims, LeeD, and everyone else. If you ever sail the waters north of Boston give me a holler.... |

First Astro Rock came out in "88, but you had to be in the industry to recognise it, as it wasn't a big deal them. Replaced the Rock.
What is a "mastBOOT"
A mast pad is for protecting your feet and the deck/rail of your board when you drop your sail. It's like $25 anywhere. It goes around the bottom of your rig AFTER you finish rigging and tuning.
A mast FOOT is the uni joint and foot that attaches the mast base to the board, thru the finbox on the deck. It's usually black plastic with any colored joint, either rubber, tendon, or mechanical.
A mast BASE is the aluminum/carbon tube which slides into the mast bottom to downhaul the sail, usually has several adjustments for height/length. |
