Although it has not been the greatest summer for wind here in the Gorge, there have been some special days, like last Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm reading about the doldrums in SoCal so I thought I would share some of what is happening up here.
Mike Godsey took some good pix at the Hatchery; here is a link: http://windnotes.com/Hatchery/index.html It is worth checking out.

Don't feel so sorry for us down here in Los Angeles. We can entertain ourselves just fine even during calm conditions.

I agree, great photo of a fiery sunset. Sunglasses might be in order to look at it for any length of time. It's amazing how bright it is. I've seen some very nice sunsets at C.L. In fact, I've got one on my desktop as my screensaver. Perhaps you've provided its replacement. Thanks.

There is a lot more where that came from...
However, I've been unable to catch the moment where a school of dolphins surfaces right inside the reflection beam of the setting sun. I've witnessed that several times as I was sitting on my longboard and watching the sunset.
Remember those cheesy touristy T-shirts that depict a setting sun and dolphins with the word "California"?....well, they're not so cheesy once you see it in person from that vantage point.
