Yet you write, "you reply to your own posts and/or post consecutively numerous times in one thread, and post nonsense" ?
Is it any wonder your credibility is suspect? |

Interesting thread. Of course this has been hashed out and hashed out time and time again but it is always fun to hear the technical rule bookers defend their positions. I used to yield to everyone and peace-out and all that but I found in crowds my entire sesh was just avoiding everyone. When my lawnmower days came to an end I started making more of an effort to claim a swell.
So the question is what is the deal with ROW?
Here is what I see:
Local Hotshots generally follow basic ROW (I know not all) early and late in the season. But they know if they wait to the last minute to yield the average Joe will get out of their way and they take advantage of this at times.
Some sailers try at all times to follow right of way and expect the same of others (no matter what the circumstance).
Some sailors just don't have a clue and some mowers just do not want to alter course.
Some swell riders are a constant pain in the ass as they turn in front of fairly close oncoming sailors (or just me) and weave in and out of heavy traffic.
Reality is when the crowds hit its just find a path and the lets all follow the rules part goes out the window. |

Excellent points all. In particular, what good is any ROW rule (besides "Don't hit nobody") when at every moment there are several other sailors -- each one obligating us to a different path -- in our immediate footprint? Can you imagine the smoke coming from Commander Data's ears if he tried to sail by ROW rules in a crowd?

I can only say, I noticed some very good safe sailing this weekend and Mr. Bush did a great Job by opening up the "the right away"! Rummy even noticed how eager Kiters and Windsurfers were with this issue. |

This gives me an idea. Maybe we all need to chip in for an old poly board we can hide in bushes, and then when a frequent violator of ROW is identified, we can draw straws for who gets to go on an "educational" mission! |
