5.0m wind and shorty suit weather at 3rd on Monday. Can't ask for more except for maybe more ebb. Maybe today! _________________ Carve the face! |

Finally Crissy, after a month of fog and the wonderful exile at Coyote.
Out around 3pm got a nice hour plus in powered up 4.7. Couple of annoying and slow kites (I am not used to them any longer). Than the wind moved south and died out to about 5.3-6.0. Had little desire to rig again and enjoyed some sun-tanning. I almost forgot how much you have to watch out for the boats
Spectacular racing of the 18 Foot Skiff class! |

| What a day! Spring like conditions in late summer at Stick. Most people used 4.2 or small from 2 to 6. Those freestylers were having fun. |

| The Stick delivered early today. 4.2/80 by 1 pm. Steady Freddy and I were the first ones on the water and the freestylers started to gather after 2. Looks to be about the same manana |

| Another strong day at Washoe Lake, not quite as steady as on mon but the wind was one to two levels higher and the south end a lot of gusts in the thirties. I was pretty sore from mon but we are approaching the end od wind season so time to man up. The wind at the launch site was gusty and holey due to the warm beach. I made my first mistake by rigging a 5.5 where I should have rigged a 4.7. I didn't bring my smaller board either so I rigged my Naish 95 ATV with a 10.75 FW wave blade. I love sailing this board as it is fast and easy to ride in rough water however the rubber pads are slippery barefooted so I need to find a way to rough them up, maybe redeck them. This creates a problem by slipping my feet too deep into the straps and step jibes are slippery as well. Anyway, 5.5 was way too big, I could handle it but the feeling of being lifted off the board going fast downwind was unnerving. so a good day for those who rigged right, today looks windy but maybe/hopefully a little less. |

| I don't know what the city is doing with Cabrillo but the bay side now seems to be getting a lot of chop. Felt like I was riding a few waves the last time I was out there lol |

Berkeley Wed.
Bad 1-25 at around 4:30, but planing in this hot weather is better than digging ditches. Weeds abound, but in the 1, it actually falls off. |

It was 4.0 conditions on the outside at Larkspur today. Godsey missed the prediction--oh well. The sensors give an indication of what's happening but not an accurate picture. Today the Corte Madera sensor showed not much happening and then a big spike at about 3:00 pm. Actually it was averaging, I would say, 25 on the outside by 2:30. I was the only one outside from about 2:30 to 3:30. I think everyone else rigged too big--I was on a 4.5 and totally O.P. I usually find that the gust reading on the Larkspur sensor is the average wind speed in the sailing region--either inside or outside or both. Today it was both with the outside maybe a few knots higher than inside. |

| Fantastic day at Coyote: 4.7-5.0 and 85 liters the norm. Strong gradient, my 4.7 getting too big outside of the second marker. Wonderful swell and starboard tack that with the end of summer sun looked like sailing on liquid silver. |

Hate to be kicking this same horse but wind is still kicking up here in Northern Nevada. Good for the windsurfing and kiting, bad for burning man Saw some pics on TV last nite and it looks like a foggy SF day out on the Black Rock desert. Anyway, yesterday was 20-30 for the afternoon and choppy. The bigger chop is surprising as the lake is now only about 7' deep and that usually flattens out the lake. But there is a 3 mile wind fetch and yesterday with the solid west wind the fetch is 4-5 miles. I didn't bring my smaller gear yesterday so I sailed my Kode 103 with a FW FS 13" fin and a Naish 5.5 ATV. The whole setup was too big but survived. Washoe has really panned out lately and I have atleast 7 days in a row of shortboard and 6.5 or smaller. Forecasting wind today and tomorrow then maybe a shutdown for a while. I could use a rest. |
