There's lots of talk about subway stations?
Are you going to be bringing your gear on the train?

Just interested. That's pretty crazy and hardcore and kudos to you!

I would look into going to Long Island, much windier, better access etc.

If driving is prohibitive to you/you don't havea car. I'm sure if you posted
on the forum that you are looking to carpool and kick in for gas people would take you up on that, esp with the freaking gas prices as they are right now!

Good luck, have a great time with your new gear!

There are many Windsurfer "friendly" beaches just a bit further east on the island (outside the city limits of Brooklyn/Queens). Try sailing in Nassau or Suffolk county. You'll need a car, unless you hit Long Beach via the LIRR (Wave sailing/current/jetties-rocks).

** Just remember. the lifeguards will NOT let you sail anywhere near a swim zone. You need to sail out of bounds, or BFORE or AFTER the lifeguards leave the chair. This applies everywhere. Swimmers and surfers/windsurfers never mix.

Try these spots just 10-20+ miles from Brooklyn

Hecksher/ Tanner for SW/S Bay B&J Freestyle Sailing (Always a crowd from April till October)

Bayville/ West Neck/ West Meadow for NW, N, NE, E, W Sound/ Bump/ "Wave" sailing (Spring-Fall-Winter spots)

The stretch from TOBAY to Overlook on the ocean....Current/Shorebreak/Wave/Inlet sailing (ALL year--90+ liter wave board-wave sail-skinny mast)

Hope this helps[/b]
