I heard Arroyo Laguna is good, north of San Luis Obispo.
I heard Waddell and Davenport is good also.
I have sailed Ocean Beach, and it is not very good. Straight onshore wind, sharks. I think it works on any swell. Seems like there are always waves there. |

Arroyo is a great spot.
Head north on 1 after Cambia. About 20 mins North of Cambria, you'll see people parked on your left. You have to climb over the gate and walk across the field to the beach.
Also a gorgeous spot. CHP likes to hide around some of the turns, especially around Cambria, be careful.
You'll find a pretty nice crowd.
Wadell is good on a South, OB is a crappy windsurf beach, unless you like busting gear. I defer on it being sharky, lots of sightings, no bites, unlike around Ano Nuevo. |

Also, although I have never caught it on a south swell day, Tuba, near Limantour in Pt Reyes NS is supposed to be great for south swells. One of the most beautiful places I have ever windsurfed. |

Arroyo Laguna can be amazing with a south swell.
I had an increadible day there about 8 months ago.
To the right (north) of the beach the waves can pick up very big on the reef or ledge about 1/2 a mile out. The wave then mellows out as it gets closer and some how turns into a pretty modest break.
From the beach the waves out there can look intimidating due to the perspective, but once you are out there they are more like small rollong hillsides...... priceless. |
