Just wondering, anybody know when the forecasts are supposed to start back up for the gorge?

Here is my 2 cents worth for today....

A weak cold front is forecast to move onshore tonight. Models are showing increasing westerly gradients ahead of this system and early morning gradients are already westerly from Portland to The Dalles. Despite the high clouds we should get some warm up allowing a thermal gradient to develop which should help westerlies develop this afternoon. Pre-frontal westerlies can be a little inconsistent but I think there will be enough wind this afternoon to get out.

Central Gorge sites build to 21-25 mid-afternoon but be a bit up and down. Eastern Gorge sites build to 21-25 late afternoon but also may be up and down.

I hope this develops as forecast, it would be great to sail today Very Happy .

Still hanging on to the tail end of a sinus infection, hope to be on the water by the time the forecasts start Friday!

Hey andymc4610, where did you sail?

I made a feeble attempt to sail about 3:30 by driving down to Luhr Jensen but it looked pretty holey and gusty so I did not go out. Glad you got something out of it!

I sailed next to cheap beach from 1-2pm on 5.0/6.0 and then 3-4pm on the 5.0. There were a couple people out at swell and the hatch. I had a nice little swim in at 4 to end my session....probably should have stuck with the big board. Very Happy

West winds are playing the typical April Fools pranks... just when ya think it's safe to rig, bam, it dies. Always best this time of year to go with bigger stuff than what you think, and always, always, always come equiped with an alternative play toy... for me it's a mtn. bike.

BTW, wind not looking so good at this particular time out east, I'm holding onto slight hope today for a central gorge sesh later in the day... but the mtn. bike is by far the more valued toy in the van.

Yep, I was the last one to quit at the hatch Sunday and had to swim in. Water was not as cold as I expected. i was on a 4.7 and 75 liter board. Wink
