Looks like the wind on Sunday 4/6 is going to be good for Chapin beach (NE). Does anyone have any suggestions for tides, or experience with this location?

If it rains today heavily, the road should be flooded. If the winds are out of the NE, you don't want to be caught down by the point sailing an incoming tide.

I love the NE wind at Chapin, flat water on the inside, user friendly waves outside, starboard tack jumps. High tide is around 12:00, so you should have good sailing from 9-3, more or less, depending on the depth of low tide and the length of fin. I can get about an extra hour of sailing there with my shortest fin, 8".

I may be there. I'm still trying to decide where I want to go.

Juan here - it looks like NW tomorrow, I am up for new spots, let's keep in touch... I just got a new board that I will try tomorrow and it's always good not to be alone when trying new gear... paranoid??? Just cautious...
Anyway, keep me posted...

See ya'...

The forecasts have been downsized overnight. The winds might pick up to 20 to 25 m.p.h. out of the NE around 11 A.M and remain in that range throughout the afternoon. Drizzle and showers also predicted. Tomorrow morning might be better as they aren't predicting rain and see higher air temps. Some forecasters call for slightly more wind. Here's an interesting webcam. http://www.telecamsystems.com/outermost/index.htm

How were the seshes? I scored a kite sesh at Scarborough Beach near Point Judith in Rhode Island - pretty sweet spot, plus I suspect it may be just a tad warmer than Chapin... My hands still stung like a mother when I came out of the water - I thought I was going to puke!

Dunoyer,

How were the waves at Scarborough today? I hit 3rd beach for the first time and had a blast! Went from my 7.0 to 5.5, a little chili but once the adrenaline kicked in, it was a good day. No waves but some chop hop and a great way to break into the session. Only two of us out there today...where was everyone?

Very pleasant windswell breaking in the shallow at Scarborough - I suspect a much better waves spot than Third - lots more fetch. Peaks were maybe 3-4 feet, with a nice, long period. There were about 15 kiters, no poleboarders - blowing about 20.

The wind was good at Chapin, 12-30, but the waves were tiny. I guess the ENE wind was too sideshore to build up the waves like a NE does. Still fun, but it sounds like Scarborough had better waves.
