Beallmd--There is much that I don't like about Hillary, or her husband. I did not vote for her in the primary, but I would favor her over any of the Republicans. With that said, I find your comment offensive and unpersuasive. Some people, characteristic of much of right wing and left wing political comment, seem to be intellectually or temperamentally incapable of making an actual argument. Their political discourse starts and ends with an insult. It is particularly unsettling when such an insult is gender, ethnic, or sexual orientation based. It reveals you as a bigot, plain and simple. Perhaps you don’t realize that such a style does more damage to you than those you attack, but I’m sure that your mother tried to teach you some manners along the way. I weigh politicians, and most people, as a mixed bag and you need to take the shortcomings with the talents. Looking for the talents, or gifts, in people is where the art of life lies. Get one.

Dear Mac; you sound like a really good person. And I thought they were just a bunch of selfserving politicians, capable of saying anything to win an election. The medical profession has always been afraid of anyone who has ever mentioned anything about overhauling the health care system. Narrow interests beget hollow perspectives, IMHO.
I know that you have to be thrilled at the Bush administration's adept handling of the war and the economy. So, you think that the country is going to stick with the GOP in light of their absent successes on anything? If you're not in the upper 3% in America, you've only been hurt by BushCo. It's true that some people will vote your way so that they can somehow feel that they are wealthy, like you perhaps are, even though it's against the interests of their families. We'll see.
I'm still hopeful for Edwards, but with the press' anointing of their favorites early on, it's an uphill battle.

Let's not get beallmd get us started on the wrong track. Without a doubt, at least from my take over time, he's been an isobars surrogate, or at minimum, a supporter of sorts. However, I'm really a bit mystified by is latest post in response to mac. Honestly, I could be missing everything here, but maybe a certain degree of irony could be at play.

The only thing clear in my mind is that we as a country have been totally off track for the last 7 years. Although I have to admit to never supporting the Bush/Cheney administration, we nevertheless feel the grief of their leadership, or really, their lack of it.

In the future, we need to expect much better. I'm not saying who you should vote for, but I honestly hope you would expect better leadership in the future. With the difficulties we can anticipate over the next few years financally, we trully need it.

About healthcare; I am an MD. Healthcare is so different now compared with the Hillarycare days. There is a very serious problem and it absolutely will affect all of us. It relates directly to Immigration. The ER's are now flooded with uninsured and a large majority of them are Illegals. Doc's are getting out of taking call and ER's are going bankrupt. The situation is critical now. Patients are finding NO specialists are available to take care of even insured patients through the ER's. Remember Hospitals and Doctors HAVE to MAKE a PROFIT or they go under! Nurses are the most expensive employees of all and there is a shortage. All this has to be paid for and it's not free, nor is it cheap. This problem will have to be dealt with in the next presidency- it will likely be a combination of private and government resources- that's the american way and it will require compromise, however at the root of it is CONTROLLING The BORDER! Now on Obama, he is a seemingly an honest broker who at least appears NOT to Want to divide Us! He is brilliant, charismatic and has invigorated the young people. He right now represents the future, not the past (ie the Clintons and Bush's who've had their 20 years). Look out for him, he may be the next Kennedy, but not in this election cycle. I have to go drink more Koolaid now.

I think you have just shown some more of your bigotry.
We have a thieving and dishonest medical system that unethically profits from the weak (that is ill rich or poor). Doctors push what the pharmaceutical companies peddle. Drugs with side effects that do more to create a future market for the manufacturers and doctors that curing patients.
You also focus just on the emergency rooms. That is only a small part of the whole medical picture. I would say that 90% of patients that get pushed into finacial ruin had nothing to do with emergency rooms.
Of all the industries in the US it is the health field that is the most corrupt.
Just in the first three months of 2007 or 2006 the hospital and pharmaceutical industries were convicted to over 3.8 billion dollars in CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS. 1,000s of unneccessary operations, hidding terrible side effects of drugs, totally irresponsible and fatal drug testing and massive medicaid fraud. Doctors illegally operating on Pigs for xenotransplatation (for Novartis the ones that brought you Ritalin) reaserch and working on human patients durring the same day while supperbugs are being bread and spead almost out of control in hospitals.

And you in your bigoted racist manner blame it on the immigrants that do so much of the unpopular deadend hard work in this country.

True Doctors and Hospitals do have to make a working profit but as it is a field were there will always be guaranteed work... a steady flow of patients it should be far more regulated.
