Mo,
Any chance you have a pic of me hitting sandbar at full speed? Red Loft sail. Thanks.

Note to self, 3rd av on low tide is a bad idea.

Looks like a fun day. Since some of you are in bare feet then the launch must be nice? I've never sailed there so I don't know.

The ramp is rough concrete and the water's about 52deg, so they must
have had leather implants done on their feet. Laughing Or probably just
alot of callus buildup from the 250 days/year x 10-15+ years of sailing that those poor feet have had to endure.

Most of the people I sail with, including myself, sail barefoot except for some days in late December, January and February. Yesterday was my first day of the year with booties in Sherman Island, very cold water. I also could have used booties two weeks ago in HMB but didn't bring them with me.

The launch at 3rd Ave is not bad, no need for booties. I usually get some superficial cuts and scrapes launching from other spots around the bay.

Just be careful, especially on the inside. I had the misfortune of sailing 3rd on a 0 tide this year. I ended up walking through the mud to the channel, before I could clear my fin. On the way I noticed red coral heads on the bottom. They were sharp, and I know another sailor who cut his foot pretty badly. I'm sure those exist other places, but on a lower tide at 3rd, the inside represents a potential for cut feet. I still sail barefoot there, but mostly I sail out in the channel.

so those are coral heads. I've cut myself too in super low tide but couldn't figure out what those sharp things were. This year I sailed 3rd on a super low tide day and ended up crawling back on my knees through the mud dragging the board and sail. Every time I tried to stand up I would sink in the mud.
