So the forecast calls for 40 to 50knots. Have they looked at the isobars!? A great day is anything over 7 isobars over the cape. (20-30+mph) I count 36 of them, my best uneducated guess is that's good for 80kts with higher gusts.

According to wunderground.com, Noel will become a category 2 hurricane when it's closest to MA:
http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at200716_v5d.html?extraprod=v5d#a_topad

Catergory 2 doesn't sound like much since Katrina, but that's 96 to 110Mph.
Good luck surviving that on any sail...

I'll check the forecast again tomorrow, and as much as I'd like to be a real windsurfer that lives for hurricanes, I might skip Noel if it comes too close.

Just wanted to add some local knowledge to the forecast. Good luck out there.
Tom.

I heard some forecasters predict gusts up to 70 m.p.h., hurricane force.

Brucie, if we had the windfarm in Nantucket Sound, think of how many megawatts we'd get for free.Smile

I went to check out Napeague at 1PM yesterday. I was thinking of going. It was going 50+ and three guys had been out. Size of boards...3.0 and less. Wish I had that gear and skill level ! Shocked
