One question: how's the swell on Mojave? I won't drive that far for flat water, but 3-4 foot swell when hammered on a 4.2 sweetens the pot if it occurs often enough.

Just want to thank jpbassking for the info. I sail Sherman Island 3 to 4 days a week through the season and for some reason this year I just can beleive its time to pack the gear for the year. Just as a comment, I am really enjoying all this talk about wave sailing vs. lake. You guys from So. Cal. are great! Here, up north, we dont have your great conditions so sometimes is just tough. Sherman 30+ a few bumps here and there; Crissy 30+ it can be ok; Waddell 25+ a few waves here and there, Davenport 25+,beautiful sunsets, it can be ruined by the dead seals half eaten but so what. For you pro surfers that spent all your lifes surfing the world, we have this little place called Mavericks that should give you enough to talk about for a while. Anyhow if the wind is blowing who gives a damm, any body of water will do.Take care guys. JP, thanks again.

Lake Mojave sounds like no crowd fun.
NP- Bragging from Southern Cal?
Sorry, but that's not a surf spot.

"if the wind is blowing who gives a damm, any body of water will do."

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

I'm gonna be checking out the Sherman Island scene next weekend. I know there won't be any wind but I've never been there so I thought I'd at least check out power lines.

Brian - The surf in so cal is far from epic but we have our days. Usually it's just 2-3 ft which makes it hard to adjust when it becomes 6 to 8 ft for a day or two.

Despite the expence and overcrowdedness of living in So Cal it is a nice place to live. The weather is nearly always perfect, the beach is half an hour from my house and the snow is 2 hours (when there is any). If I could just inherit a couple of mil so that I could retire then life would be grand.

Isobars, where you been. It's just about time for another political debate!

I'll lead it off...

Debate? Fine. Pissing contest? No, thanks ... they're for children.

Besides, I could win the latter in my sleep now that my prostate is out of the way. Matter of fact, that's exactly when I did it soon after surgery. ;-(

Isobars, Mojave doesn't get the monster rollers like 3 mile canyon, but the swells(3-4) are there with Santa Ana's. Plus, in November the water is 70 degrees, the air mid to high 70's and on a big day 4 or 5 people out, NICE. Just watch the weather channel and hit the road.

Also, i should have posted; I'm not just a lake a sailor....So Cal, the Bay, the Gorge, Isabella, San Carlos, La Ventana...it's all good. I feel younger after each session.

Yeah, the action isn't just at airport bathrooms anymore. Laughing

The windsurfing/kitesurfing bit is just a pretext for the main attraction. Wink
