Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell from a wetsuit, other than leaving it for a kiter to steal?
I heard about some 'enzyme wash'.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to answer that but I'm sure he will be tempted to tell you. Well,, at one time I think he claimed to be a rocket scientist.
Just give it back to the Kiter. Did you find it at East Point? |

Mirazyme can be purchased at ProMotion. Also enzymatics that are designed for pet accidents, one of which is Nature's Miracle found at most feed or pet supply shops. |

Rinse your suit out with fresh water, turn it inside out and leave it to dry in the sun. Sunlight kills a lot of bacteria. If you've got to whiz in your suit, flush some water through it while you're sailing. If it's a dry suit, uh... depends? |

Dont drink or smoke. Eat healthy. Bathe daily. Don't pee yourself. If you do, at least lift the side of your suit out. I do this and everything actually smell fine all the time. |

Always interested to hear about home remedies. I have tried nearly everything, and the only thing which seems to help somewhat is to remove the suit at bedtime and allow to dry overnight. Things I've tried that clearly do NOT work.
1. Microwave
2. Burying in cat litter
3. Peeing only on starboard tack
4. Running it through the Dalles Dam
5. Dry cleaning
6. Duct taping a leg hole to the exhaust pipe
7. Leaving moon roof open in car wash
8. Returning it to Promotion for a refund
9. Wearing pine-scented car freshener around neck while sailing
10. Hitting on much younger women on the beach

It's life's juices worked into
the cells of that foam, compadre.
Maybe not pee, but all other forms
right down to resultant evils of
your tent-poking around Darcy, plus
Columbia river water. Thus 'a little bit country,
a little bit rock and roll' is in those cells and needs to
be squeeezed out and replaced with enzyme, bleach, etc. then
squeeeeeezed back out again (very hard to do). Try drying it
at the west end of the marina parking lot (by path),
in the sandbar lot, or East Point (but it must
still be wet and there must be a faint breeze
for the latter three remedies to work). |
