For all those sailors fighting the traffic crossing the bridge between Port Huron and Sarnia you might want to consider the ferry crossing at Sombra/Marine City. I used it twice this past weekend with outstanding results. Last ferry is at 10:15 PM and fires up at 6:30 AM. The later you ride into the evening the less likely you will encounter any traffic at all. This past Friday after a big day at Kettle Point was able to catch the 9PM ferry without any wait (20 minute border crossing). Just something to think about when the bridge is backed up with a three hour wait. Cost is $6 per car and if you have a trailer add another $6 to the total. Ship carries 12 cars per run and they run two ferrys each way till 9PM then reduce down to one ferry unless there are a ton of cars waiting to cross I suspect. |
