Yesterday PM 7/16 the river rose about a foot an hour and inundated the sandbar spit. Normal occurance? |

Yes this is common. The Bonneville pool (between The Dalles and Cascade Locks) has regular daily fluctuations. River levels measured at The Dalles are typically lowest in the early morning and highest in the evening. Check this USGS website for real time river data from The Dalles.

The water level in the Gorge can change quite quickly. I lost a pair of fit flops that way once, so don't put your gear to close to the water. |

And today (7/17) the river was low again and the sandbar is huge. |
