I just saw a posting on the Lifeguard's Watch-The-Water site that Cabrillo Beach (Outside and Inside)is closed today as a precaution due to an inland sewage spill. Check it out before making the drive.

The time associated with the contamination message is 19:42 on 7/11/2007.
If time markers are PDT as indicated in fine print at the bottom of the graph, time machines are real. Even if the message were stamped with Eastern Daylight time, currently 17:55. the 19:42 time would still be in the future. Question

PostPosted: Thu Jul 12, 2007 4:05 pm    Post subject: The Spill Was Not At Cabrillo; Closure is Just Precautionary Reply with quote

According to the LA County authorities, the sewage spill that occurred on Tuesday evening, July 10 occurred at 10th and Grand in San Pedro. The spill DID NOT occur at Cabrillo Beach; precautionary signs have been posted at the beach as a matter of standard policy, not because the beach is polluted. These signs are expected to be lifted Thursday afternoon or Friday.

The Cabrillo Beach Windsurf Enduro is therefore scheduled to take place as planned and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Looks like the outer beach is still posted as of 11 a.m. today. There was a photo in the LATimes they alleged was a lifeguard blocking someone from launching a windsurfer on the outer beach. It looked like the guy was holding a paddleboard to me though, so I can't attest to the accuracy.

Anyone go out at Cabrillo on Thursday?

I have just returned from Cabrillo, where there are signs posted saying you can't enter the water. I asked the parking attendant who told me I could come into the park, but can't go into the water. I didn't ask a lifeguard, but although it was blowing better than 16, there was no one in the water inside or out.

is the race still on?

BTW, do you think I would get clobbered by everyone if I am using freeride/wave gear?

Are most guys going to show up with formula or slalom gear?

Is the race on the inside or outside?

I don't think you'll be alone, I'm showing up on freeride gear Laughing From having spoken to a few other people entered, there are a load of people are doing it for the enjoyment, not to break speed records. Though maybe nobody would dare admit that ! I could be rather surprised tomorrow Surprised

See you tomorrow!
