Dirt bikes are to street bikes as wave riding at Jaws is to riding on a subway; the only connection is wheels. Dirt biking and windsurfing, OTOH, are very similar sports . . . similar muscle involvement, mental focus, physical activities, air time, crashing, freedom, adrenaline rush, legally altered consciousness, physical conditioning, etc. The primary differences, IMO, are that crashes hurt more on land, on dirt bikes we're always powered absolutely perfectly and never get skunked, we get do-overs on The Perfect Ramp ('cause sand dunes don't dissipate), and dirt bikes don't displace careers because we, not NOAA, get to choose our own play time.

I quit street riding the 4th or 5th time I had to take direct, physical to defend myself and/or my wife from 4-wheeled miscreants.

If the issue were toxins, which typically become concentrated within fish living in the enviroment, you would think that the fish would be unsafe to eat. I know many people who catch and eat the fish out of the Columbia and call them safe. Has anybody studied the fish to know this, or is it just what people assume?

In any case, if the fish are in fact safe to eat, then it seems more likely that the causative agent for people's health problems would be more likely biologics (bacteria, etc.) than toxins.

Anybody with expert knowledge in this area?
