Fishing is world class for Stripers aka Rockfish. Flounder, cobia, red and black drum, spade fish is also excellent. a 19' - 24' boat can get you to any of the above fish within 15 - 30 minute boat ride. Offshore fishing is a two hour ride but is good late June - Sept |

Are there any places to rent decent equiptment near Va Beach. My family will be in Sandbridge in a few weeks, and I would love to sail if there's any wind. Hatteras is a little to far away.

There used to be multiple WS shops in the are, but there just isn't the number of sailors any more to sustain business. Closest is Beach Sports in Hampton, about an hour drive from Sandbridge. www.beachsports.net. Call ahead to make sure the shop's open. |

Virginia Beach and the whole Norfolk area is a big Navy town. Most of the Navy guys are fine - but there are enough bad apples to make some parts of Va. Beach pretty rough. |
