Hana all day IS worth it. (i've done it several times both northern and southern routes). May be not with screaming wife and kids though!!
Beallmd sounds like he has some experience with that.
And no, the wind does not blow all the time in Maui, alot yes, but not "all". It may seem like it in June/July though. |

I've been skunked several times during the winter in Maui. As of 2 years ago you could exchange your local iwindsurf pager for a Maui pager at Al West's Van Rental. I don't know if you still can, but it's worth calling them if you're planning a winter trip-- the pager has saved me alot of trips from Kanaha to the North shore, perhaps because I'm not experienced enough to know if the North Shore is a 16 (a no-go) or a 20 (a go) based on the breeze filtering down to my condo in Kanaha.
I share beallmd's view of Hana. I've done it twice pre-kids and would never do it post-kids! |

Pagers don't work ANYwhere any more as of May 15.
A web enabled cell phone works though. Save Kahana and Kihei
in your favorites so you don't chew up roaming minutes.
It does come in handy in the winter, Kihei often blows more
then and you'd never know it staying on the north side. |
