I've made sudden avoidance maneuvers to keep from hitting Sea Turtles.... but this looks harder.

Right click on image above and "save image as.." to get the same 32K .jpg image I got from the original ABC News Story:

Maybe you can contact Sarah at NOAA Fisheries to get her original non-compressed picture.

Great shot,

I was there.
The whale got a bit irrate. An unfortunate sailor was injured and his gear destroyed while trying to waterstart. The whale surfaced directly under him and rag dolled his sail. He was lucky to escape with only minor injuries.

Do you know who was injured? I was sailing just down river from the power lines when the whales went through and I didn't here about anybody getting hurt.

Definitely an amazing shot. Way to add another element to the already-bitchin' Rio experience.

I am bummed to hear that somebody got hurt a bit and their gear destroyed. But, it is nice to see what appears to be a stunning photo that was not photo-shopped. Ahhh..the days before Photoshop when you could really believe in amazing photos...

I don't believe it either. It doesn't look real.
