Anyone know if Gorge racks still make their Thule adaptable stack rack ?
Anyone else making something similar ?
Any help would be appreciated. |

I had heard that they're not really available. the windance website says they're no longer available. perhaps if you call them, they may be able to you where you get get them (other than used or something).

I don't know for sure, but have no doubt they hit with a serious lawsuit and went bankrupt. There have been too many tragic incidents where boards flew off and nailed the car behind, often from the rack failing. 70mph is alot of air pressure on that tall stack and if you got any headwind, it could be well over 100mph. Try just standing in 70mph of wind, it's difficult even at 50mph. |

i have them, but dont use them anymore.. I stick with one board in my car. I'd sell mine or donate for a few good bottles of red wine or something..
let me know if you're interested.

Cheers dude. Probably good advice.
I have about a 15 minute drive max to any spot I ride at here. Never get above 40 mph...

I sell Yakima and Thule racks in the Portland area and will be selling stackers as soon as I get some back from the welder. Any buyers out there? boxandrackguy@yahoo.com |

As Sparky sez . . . easy to make. I've made many, and I don't even weld. I've used 'em on everything from sports cars to vans, at high speeds in high head- and cross-winds, with 4-6 boards including longboards, with zero problems over hundreds of thousands of miles. Two tips:
1. Clamps can loosen; bolt the base crossbars down unless your vehicle has serious gutter rails. Design the towers to lift off for the off-season.
2. If the load sticks out too far in front of your windshield, run a strap from a full-width side-to-side front tie-down strap to the front bumper.
