this one just nicked me in the heel (felt like a razorblade) but I don't think it got much poison in. I say that because the last time I got stung 5 years ago in Baja, there was hours of throbbing pain which i didn't experience this time. No amount of drug will stop the pain, the only cure is the hottest water you can stand for a couple of hours.

The other issue is infection - not sure if its from the stingray or the dirty salt water. I ignored it for 2 days and the entire heal became very itchy and red. At that point I went to the doctor who said there has been increased bouts of methicillin resistant staph from ocean water wounds (another dr. disputed this but I can tell you the infection was nasty). I ended up with a shot in the ass and 10 days of Rifampin and Flagyl which are heavy antibiotics. It cleared the infection completely in that time frame.

My advice is hot water, then seek immediate medical attention to prevent the infection that will come a few days later if you ignore it. There is also a significant likely hood that the barb could break off in your wound requiring microscopic surgery to remove it - if you have the throbbing pain, they will often do an xray to make sure there's no barb.
