Man, I've never even barely BEEN to the Northeast, not to mention windsurfing there. Does anybody have a favorite spot?

This is a shot of user rationalnational on the south shore of Nantucket. 4.2 Nw'er. He did land this jump!

The best and most consistent wind in the NE is outside of Hyannis; Cape Cod, Mass.

You have to watch the weather and get there on the day a Cold Front is coming through, then you'll have a couple really good days.

Avoid July and August

There are so many good sites on Cape Cod and the R.I. coast. My favorite place to sail changes depending on the conditions. I sailed at Deep Hole, Pt Judith, 3 or 4 times last December/ January. It's becoming one of my favorites for waves in a west or southwest wind.

Steve,
Thanks for the photo. That's amazing considering we were out there 2 weeks earlier and it was fine. I hope it's clear tomorrow.

I heard Kalmus was clear the previous weekend too. Some locals said that the ice came in just a day or 2 before the weekend, due to that cold snap we had. There was a seal sunning himself out on the ice. I felt lke I was in the Arctic.

Long Island has dozens of places to sail, whether you want flat water, bay or waves. And if you've got the wetsuit for it you can join those of use who sail year-round.

There's a map of Long Island windsurfing locations here. I have a blog that focuses on Long Island windsurfing as well.

Lakes Bay, NJ - one of the top ten most consistently windy sites, (per iwindsurf and Windsurfing magazine) with a Hampton Inn on site, a sandy beach, shallow water with no current or boat traffic, 300 foot deck, snack bar, onsite storage lockers, full service shop. Windsurfing & Kitesurfing schools and manufacturers demo days. http://www.extremewindsurfing.com
