Hello All, I am interested in finding a good place to sail on western cape cod. Ideally I would like to find a spot that would make a good weekend trip from the albany new york area and would have a place to camp at for a night or two. Any suggestions?

There are so many good places to sail on the cape depending on wind direction, type of sailing you like to do and time of year. If you do an online search you can find a couple of guides. I dont know about campsites. This is probably the most popular launch- Kalmus Beach in Hyannis- good in prevailing southwest, usually has the best summer winds, shallow at low tide, some chop hopping, beginners to experts, weed fin preferred.

The biggest WSing beach would be West Dennis which has a large parking lot. Although good camping exists all over the cape, it is highly regulated and restricted. Nickerson State Park has the best camping but it isnt on the ocean. If you arrive on Sunday, you may be able to optain a site there. All local police dept.s and other law enforcement agencies are on the watch for campers without permits. However, theres plenty of wooded areas in which you can camp if you are quiet and hidden.
