I just bought a Bic Longboard. It looks similar to the Mistral Competition. I sailed it Sunday and it was a lot of fun, but the mast base sometimes would slip in the track. Does anyone know what I might have been doing wrong? How do I get it to lock in place?

If it is an adjustable mast track, then there should be a button to press to release the track for movement. Button should be located at the end of the track near the foot straps. The button may be stuck down or the track is not locking at the preset notches.

Check the button first. If sticking, tip the board on its side and try to rinse it out with plenty of water while manually operating it. Could be sand or salt jamming it up. You can also clean up the track system the same way. Insert the mast base by itself and slide it back and forth while rinsing with water. You will probably need to hold the button down to move it back and forth.

Your mast base may be worn or the track system could be worn which either item could possibly be the reason it slips or doesnt lock into place.

If the mast track is NOT adjustable, you are just not getting the base tight enough in the mast track.

Good luck.
