Best time for Hatteras?

I am doing some planning for 07 and was wondering when is the best time to plan a week in Cape Hatteras. Thinking of Memorial Day week even though April may be windier. Probably a good time for non-windsurfing family to bike/play on beach. I see you can rent houses right on the sound which sounds likes paradise!!

Hard to make a call whether May is better or worse than April. Post Memorial Day weekend certainly everthings more expensive.

Weve only sailed there is the fall (Labor Day thru end of Sept.) Summer winds generally are not that good and Id also watch out for when the flies/ mosquitos show Up (like when theres no wind). Can get pretty annoying. Best best is to talk to Hatteras Windsurfing - theyll give you the skinny on spring winds. Have fun.

I was just there over the 4th of july. Blew every day, bugs not bad at all.
