Last season I ran over a submerged peir piling with my fin and it drove the tuttle based fin through the aft wall of my box. I repaired with solarez epoxy, hit bottom and it cracked out. I repaired again with a two-part epoxy paste from Goop, then hit bottom and cracked it out. At this point Im wondering if this is a never ending cycle, or if its just best to drop some cash and have the box replaced.

Well, just to follow up, I ended up using the Goop 2 part epoxy paste again but with some fiberglass cloth I got from the hardware store. I layered it, saturating the cloth as I went and then sanded it to fit my fins. Last session I hit a crab pot that sent me over the handlebars and it showed no sign of a problem (besides my techtonics fin that I dinged pretty good). If it happens again Ill probably get the West System epoxy, the microballoons, some carbon cloth, and some S-glass and do it right. Till then, smooth sailing!

Mike

Since you are hitting things all the time, I guess that you sail in shallow water, so my suggestion is to get a small fin, like Technosport Tidewater (Short but big area, ment for sailing in shallow water)
