Even though it was flooding most of the afternoon, 3rd was excellent, 4.7's and swell up to head high and partially breaking near the channel marker. I always say every windsurfer should experience a really good day at third.
Parking has been at a premium of late at 3rd. Folks parked well around the corner and up. Has there ever been any discussion of a parking lot above the golf course/range for the kiters?, sure would be a great thing for all concerned. |

Weekend and holiday parking is always at a premium at 3rd when there's wind.
The golf course management allows parking along the west fence for kiters and other Bay users. Windward of that is state owned wetlands. No parking will ever be developed there.
You ain't seen nothin' yet...redevelopment of 3rd, set to begin later this month, will severely impact parking. _________________ mo |

I've been sailing 3rd since '91 so I'm familiar w/ the parking situation. Have only been sailing vicariously lately due to family obligations, so I haven't been out to 3rd lately. What are they going to do for redevelopment?

Isabel Sunday....fluffy at first, thicker later. Then, I made a Yelapa Palapa and sat in the hot tub.
Yelapa Palapa
Juice of two limes
One ounce of maple surup
Two ounces rum
Ice
Fizzy water to taste.
Mix well.

Improvements at the kiteboard/windsurf rigging area include installation of modular restrooms, picnic tables, benches, new synthetic turf and drainage improvements. An outdoor shower/rinse station is also planned. _________________ mo |

A number of the windsurfing channel rats still park down at the old launch on the street, a number of them (us) since the 80's. Rig near your vehicle, short walk to launch. I only parked in the main lot when kiting but still prefer the old launch site for windsurfing. |

Many of the kiters do park at the golf course to go the windward launch. When I kite I usually park there so none of my windsurfing friends have a chance to heckle me.
Sunday was a gem of a day at 3rd even though it was flooding. Good wind, powered up on 75L 4.7 and there were good ramps if you knew where to find them. _________________ _____/)_____

Rio Viento/The Sign Tuesday afternoon, almost didn't go when wind dropped below 15 mph at Marker 14. Got there around 4:00 and while it looked pretty good, sensor was reading 12.5 SW. Walked up to the road and nearly got blown off the levee by a strong NW that must have been blowing right over the marker. By the time I got on the water (5:30) it had filled in nicely, pretty much WSW, for a good 4.7 session. |
